Mexico

Brian and Danyel have had a busy month as they spent time in the states and ministered in several different places. Brian was able to spend a beneficial week preaching at the Countryside Teen Camp in early June, and both he and Danyel were able to bless many young people from Countryside and Redemption Hill by sharing about their experience with church planting in Sinaloa. To watch the ministry update that Brian gave at Redemption Hill, in which Pastor JD also described his family’s trip to see the Warnes in May, you can click here.

After returning from camp, Brian was able to minister both in Countryside and Redemption Hill, giving updates about the ministry in Mexico and preaching in both churches. If you were unable to attend when Brian preached at Redemption Hill where he encouraged us for our role in missions from 3 John, you can find his sermon here.

Brian and Danyel are now back home in Sinaloa and are hitting the ground running as they engage back in ministry. One upcoming ministry development which Brian will be working on is another pastoral resident, César, who will be moving to Sinaloa with his wife Ana and their three children. Pray that César will grow in maturity, wisdom, and love as he prepares for pastoral ministry in the Latin American world.

How to pray

  • Pray that God would continue blessing Iglesia Biblical Redencion in Los Mochis.

  • Pray for current pastoral residents Tony and Yosimar and upcoming future pastoral resident Cesar.

  • Pray that God would continue to strengthen and grow the churches in Sinaloa.

  • Pray for Pastor Brian as he trains and equips church leaders both virtually and in person in Mexico.

FIJI

Dr. Narayan recently shared about the Easter convention that Fiji Bible College held this spring. Though the island experienced torrential rain, nearly 300 people attended services that focused on the life, death, burial, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. Over the course of several days, these individuals heard the gospel from the book of Acts, leading to several professing faith in Christ. What a wonderful Easter!

Later in April, the Australian Broadcasting Service conducted an interview with FBC that allowed them to share what they believe about God from Scripture. You can access that audio here.

FBC is also excited to have acquired a new location in a town named Lautoka where they will be able to run various aspects of their ministry like their eye clinic, bookshop, and headquarters for Ambassadors for Christ.

In addition to praising God for these blessings, Dr. Narayan asks that we pray for several needs. The College has a vehicle that is need of significant repairs. Repairing or replacing the vehicle is outside of the college’s financial means, so they ask for prayer for God to provide for this need. The school will also be hosting a conference, the Suva Pastors Conference. Pray that God would bring many pastors from throughout the island and the Pacific and that this time together would strengthen both the pastors who attend and the churches to which they will return.

Lastly, Dan Rudman will be visiting Fiji Bible College multiple times before the end of the year. He will spend a week teaching there at the beginning of August, assisting in the education of many pastors and church leaders. Our missions fund was able to purchase resources that will be given out to support ongoing training and discipleship for these men. Dan will also be able to preach in multiple churches while he is there. Dan will return to Fiji to celebrate the college’s 50-year anniversary in October, and will be accompanied on this trip by the Tollefsons.

HOW to pray

  • Pray for those who professed faith in Christ from the recent Easter services.

  • Pray that God would provide a vehicle suitable to the needs to the Bible College.

  • Pray for the Suva Pastors Conference, that God would bless the pastors who attend and strengthen churches throughout the Pacific.

  • Pray that Dan Rudman’s trips to Fiji would prove a blessing to the school and would result in the continued training and growth of the students there.

  • Pray that God would continue to use the faculty and graduates of Fiji Bible College to reach the many different islands of Fiji.

  • Pray that God would sustain the leaders of Fiji Bible College:

    • Dr. Narayan Nair and family

    • President Premend Choy and family

    • Michael Seehusen and family.

Brazil

Roger and Crystal Johanson are continuing to faithfully minister in Aracaju. As they do so, they have several new requests for which we can pray. The church is considering planting a new church in the city of Gloria, several hours inland from Aracaju. Pray that God would give the leadership team wisdom as they consider this possibility, as well for open doors for the gospel both in Gloria and in Aracaju.

The church is currently preparing for a few different missions trips. Pray that Pastor Gersom and his wife, who are joining a team headed for a trip to Portugal to consider church planting, would have wisdom as they pursue God’s leading in their life. Also pray for the youth in the church who are planning a missions trip. Pray that God would bless their preparations and that the young people in the youth group would continue to pursue discipleship opportunities.

Pray that God would continue to raise up leaders within the church, like a man named Joao Pedro who is currently serving as a pastoral intern. Pray specifically that God would grow and mature Joao Pedro and grant him wisdom as he continues in leadership.

How to pray

  • Pray that God would use an upcoming trip to Portugal to give direction to those participating and to further the spread of the gospel around the world. Pray specifically for Pastor Gersom and his wife who are joining this trip.

  • Pray that God would give wisdom and open doors as the leadership team considers a potential church plant in Gloria.

  • Pray for the youth in the church in Aracaju as they prepare to take a missions trip and as they pursue discipleship opportunities within the church.

  • Pray for Pastor Roger and the rest of the leaders would have wisdom in utilizing the blessings God has given their church. Pray that God would use the people in their body to continue growing their own church and to plant other churches in Brazil and throughout the Portuguese-speaking countries in the world.

  • Pray that Pastor Roger would have strength and patience to continue enduring his pre-Parkinson’s symptoms and that doctors would have wisdom and skill in diagnosing and treating it.

  • Pray that Crystal would be pain-free until she can have her gall bladder removed this fall.

  • Pray for the children of the Johansens and the Maias as they study:

    • Juliana Johansen as she finishes her first year of college in West Virginia.

    • James Johansen as he studies in high school in Aracaju.

    • Marcos Maia as he studies in a Bible School in the Amazon.

  • Pray for the leadership in Aracaju:

    • Pastor Roger Johansen.

    • Pastor Eriomar Maia.

    • Pastor Marcos.
