The Object of True Hope

Isaiah 40:31 famously promises that those who wait on the Lord will mount up on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint. But what does it mean to wait on the Lord? It means to hold fast to his promises in eager expectation. God strengthens his followers through his tender promises, his sovereign greatness, and ultimately through Jesus Christ. No rest or hope is available outside of faith in Jesus Christ.
