The Supremacy of Christ Over Slaves and Masters

The issue of slavery can be one of the more uncomfortable issues in Scripture. Paul's commands to slaves and masters seems to have very little application to the life of someone who neither owns nor serves as a slave, and the fact that Paul doesn't condemn slavery right out seems different than what we might expect or want. These are not easy questions to answer, but it is definitely worth the time it takes to dig into the text and understand what God is saying through it. And when we do, we find that the supremacy of Christ affects every area of life, whether slaves and masters in the first century, or those who are slaves of Christ in the 21st century.
