An Exceptional Conversion

The thief on the cross is an example of a deathbed conversion. Was it real? Yes - this thief evidenced a change of heart, a confession of sin, a comprehension of Jesus, and a profession of his faith. Then Jesus confirmed his salvation by promising to be with him in paradise. By God’s grace, he saves all those who believe and repent, no matter how far along in their life they are. At the same time, we must never presume on God’s grace and assume we will just turn to him later. Instead, let us throw ourselves on the mercy of God at a time when he may be found.
