brazil

Pastor Roger recently shared the following update about the ministry in Brazil:

Praise the Lord for Brazilian missionaries. Helio and Shirley are from northern Brazil heading south to the most southern state to church-plant. Along their way they came through to spend time with us. Helio shared that one thing God used to lead him to church-planting missions was a visit we did to his seminary years ago. Praise the Lord God uses us to influence one another for His glory. In their picture, notice the area beyond the river. That area is called Barra, and we have two couples from there coming to our church in Aracaju. We are praying for direction, timing and wisdom to start a church in that area. Pray!

Pray for our young people to serve the Lord faithfully, as they join us in starting a new ministry to reach 10–12-year-olds. They are excited for this new ministry.

It was a joy to have Juliana with us during her Christmas break. She is back at Liberty University studying hard. Pray for grace and direction. God used her month break with us to remind me that He takes care of our children better than we do. We can trust in Him. In the picture Juliana is eating some tasty tapioca which is made with manioca root.

Thanks for your prayers for us, family, local ministry and beyond. May God be glorified and open more doors for the gospel to be spread.

Pastor Roger also asked for prayer in various areas. He asks that we pray for the church in Aracaju to grow in 2026, specifically that they would increase their evangelism of the lost, edification of believers, and exaltation of God. Pray also for Roger and his family as they have quite a bit of traveling around Brazil in the near future. Lastly, pray for the church as they prepare for a holiness retreat in early February, when Carnival is going on in Brazil.

How to pray

  • Pray that God would grow the church in Aracaju.

  • Pray that God would protect the Johansens as they travel.

  • Pray that God would bless the holiness retreat in early February.

  • Pray that Pastor Roger would have strength and patience to continue enduring his Parkinson’s symptoms.

  • Pray for the leadership in Aracaju and Gloria:

    • Pastor Roger Johansen.

    • Pastor Eriomar Maia.

    • Pastor Marcos.
