Brazil

As Christmas approaches, Pastor Roger’s church in Brazil has been putting on a version of Journey to Judea to share the gospel with Brazilians. They explain the story of Scripture and show how Jesus took on flesh and entered his creation to redeem it from sin. Pray that God would use this gospel ministry to reach the hearts of those who attended.

Pastor Roger asks us to pray specifically for Pastor Gerson and his wife Debra who both traveled to Portugal on the recent vision casting trip there. Pastor Gerson has been faithfully serving in Brazil but desires to help in the ministry of church planting around the world. Pray that God would give him wisdom as he considers this opportunity in Portugal.

Pastor Gerson and Debra

How to pray

  • Pray that God would give wisdom to those who went to Portugal and are considering church planting there, especially Pastor Gerson and Debra.

  • Pray that God would bless the new church plant in Gloria.

  • Pray for the youth in the church in Aracaju as they prepare to take a missions trip, specifically that God would bless their efforts to raise support.

  • Pray that God would develop many future leaders to aid in the ministry in Brazil.

  • Pray that Pastor Roger would have strength and patience to continue enduring his Parkinson’s symptoms and that doctors would have wisdom and skill in diagnosing and treating it. Specifically pray that the doctors who saw him in the states would be able to help him.

  • Pray for the leadership in Aracaju:

    • Pastor Roger Johansen.

    • Pastor Eriomar Maia.

FIJI

As the recent graduates of Fiji Bible College prepare for their next stages of ministry, Dr. Narayan asks that we pray for them. Pictured below are men named Varesa, Samisoni, Koroi, Molisio, Falesa, Josia, and Vitali.

Recently a ministry called Barnabas Aid donated six tons of rice, a significant amount of food that Fiji Bible College is distributing to people in their community who are in need of food. They pray that this tangible demonstration of the love of Christ will further the message of the gospel and that as they serve those around them, they would have opportunities to share the gospel as well.

Dr. Narayan asks that we pray for several significant medical and financial needs. First, pray for the Duvu family. Joel Duvu is a lecturer at the school, and he and his wife Sidhartha have a daughter named Naila who is enduring a bitter health struggle. Naila has battled with significant health issues since birth, including paralysis in both legs, and is currently battling severe pneumonia. These medical issues have also incurred substantial costs, and on top of it all the Duvu’s car is no longer working. Pray for God to care for their family, to heal Naila, and to provide for all their financial needs.

Second, pray for a woman named Monika who is facing kidney failure. Monika has 1% kidney function and requires consistent dialysis for which she is unable to pay. Fiji Bible College is working both with local government to attain a subsidy and also with a group called Christian Helps that is seeking to help Monika. As she likely nears the end of her medical trial, pray that God would provide for her needs and would open her heart to trust in Christ.

Third, pray for God to provide for Fiji Bible college as their Vocational School has suffered extensive termite damage. They are in need of $15,000 to repair the building so that they can continue to utilize this part of their campus.

To read more about these needs, and to find out how you can give financially to any of them, you can read the most recent update from Fiji Bible College.

HOW to pray

  • Pray that God would use the recent graduates as they transition into their next stages of ministry.

  • Pray that God would bless the school as they distribute food and share the love of Christ with the needy in their community.

  • Pray that God would provide for the medical and financial needs of Joel and Sidartha Duvu and their daughter Naila.

  • Pray that as Monika deals with the burden of costly dialysis and kidney failure, God would provide for her needs and grant her faith in Christ.

  • Pray that God would provide the necessary funds to repair the school’s damaged building.

  • Pray that God would sustain the leaders who minister in Fiji and the surrounding region:

    • Dr. Narayan Nair and family

    • President Premend Choy and family

    • Michael Seehusen and family

Returning to Mochicahui, Pastor Brian is maintaining his ministry to 18 different church planting pastors and pastoral residents throughout Mexico and Peru.

As the year comes to a close, Pastor Brian and Danyel will celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary on New Years Eve. Praise God for 38 years of marriage!
