The story of Jacob at Bethel is a beautiful account of God's grace to an undeserving sinner. When Jacob lies down to rest in a "certain" place, he unexpectedly experiences a life-changing meeting with God. That God graciously pursues and provides for sinners like us ought to produce a response of fear, worship, and personal commitment.
