But God Meant it for Good
As the book of Genesis comes to a close, Joseph's interaction with his brothers shows his view of God's sovereignty. He has total confidence in God's goodness and his control over all things in life, even the sin of his brothers. While they meant to harm him, God was actually orchestrating events for his own good purposes. Taking this view of God gives us confidence to face the trials in our lives, knowing that God is in control and is using it for our good. And like Joseph, believing that God is sovereign means we can forgive those who wrong us and not harbor resentment.
