Brazil

Pastor Roger Johansen is grateful for what God is doing and asks for prayer that he would continue to work. He gives thanks that he was able to complete some schooling recently. He asks for prayer for his wife Crystal as she teaches the kids and women in the church, seeking to help families grow in the Lord. He also asks us to pray that God would bless his and his ministry team’s efforts as they seek to publish materials that would aid in the ministry through their seminary, Sibima. These physical and digital materials are being distributed and utilized throughout Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa as well.

Recently, the church hosted a couples event where Roger taught on what it looks like to be the light of the world as the group sat in the light of the sunset. Roger asks for prayer that these couples would shine as lights in their community, especially as Easter approaches. Praise God that the church will be baptizing several people in the ocean on Easter!

How to pray

  • Pray that God would bless Roger’s efforts to publish ministry materials.

  • Pray that the church would be active in evangelism.

  • Pray that God would use the Easter baptisms to encourage believers and evangelise the lost.

  • Pray that God would bless the new church plant in Gloria, especially Pastor Marcos who is leading the church.

  • Pray that God would allow Crystal to have an effective ministry with the kids and women in the church.

  • Pray that God would save Erasmo.

  • Pray that God would give wisdom to those who went to Portugal and are considering church planting there, especially Pastor Gerson and Debra.

  • Pray that Pastor Roger would have strength and patience to continue enduring his Parkinson’s symptoms.

  • Pray for the leadership in Aracaju:

    • Pastor Roger Johansen.

FIJI

The president of Fiji Bible College, Premend Choy, recently traveled to the US to attend conferences, meet supporting churches, and take graduate classes. During his trip, he had a cardiac arrest that left him in a coma in the hospital. He came out of the coma after a few days, then spent a few more on a ventilator, and now faces significant recovery. Praise God that he has already worked in many miraculous ways to preserve Premend, and pray that God would heal fully. Pray that Premend would have strength as he goes through strenuous tests and therapy, and pray also for his family, especially his wife Ashwin, who flew from Fiji to be with Premend during this time.

HOW to pray

  • Pray that God would fully heal Premend after his cardiac arrest.

  • Pray that God would comfort and care for the Choy family, providing for all their needs at this time.

  • Pray that God would provide for the financial needs of the Bible College.

  • Pray that God would sustain the leaders who minister in Fiji and the surrounding region:

    • Dr. Narayan Nair and family

    • President Premend Choy and family

    • Michael Seehusen and family

Mexico

Pastor Brian Warne recently shared an update of how God is working in Mexico, giving thanks and praise to God for his work, including how Redemption Hill has been able to share in the work. A portion of his message is included here:

“We as the pastors of both Iglesia Bíblica Palabra de Cristo (IBPC - Word of Christ Church) in Mochicahui, Sinaloa & our new church plant Iglesia Bíblica Redención (IBR - Redemption Church) in Los Mochis, Sinaloa express our continued gratefulness to the Redemption Hill Church family for you sacrificial and prayerful participation with us in proclaiming the gospel here in Sinaloa. We are especially thankful for your partnership with us in the planting of our new church (IBR) in Los Mochis. Earlier this month we had the joy of ordaining Yosimar & Antonio to pastoral ministry to join Pastor Antonio and I on our pastoral team serving both churches. Your assistance in covering the rent for the new church in Los Mochis as well as additional support for Pastor Tony has been a marvelous blessing to us and the people we are seeking to reach and train for Christ.”

“Pictured above with Pastor Mike Summers, Pastor Antonio, & me (left to right) are a few of the pastors that have been further equipped through our ministry and/or are currently involved in churches being planted or that have been planted with our assistance: Mauricio - El Fuerte, Sinaloa Javier - Tepic, Nayarit Héctor - was El Fuerte now Culiacan, Sinaloa Brian, Yosimar Antonio & Tony - Mochicahui & Los Mochis Juan - Culiacan, Sinaloa Joel - Compostela, Nayarit Manuel (hidden behind Joel) - Nogales, Sonora Oscar - El Fuerte, Sinaloa”

Looking forward, Pastor Brian asks for prayer with his ongoing ministries, including pastoral discipleships, ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counselors) supervisions, pastoral resident training and evaluation meetings, and seminary classes. He will engage in many of these activities as he travels in the next few weeks. Additionally, he asks that we pray for him as he prepares to lead a two week intensive pastoral ministry seminary class in June.

How to pray

  • Pray that God would sustain Pastor Brian in his busy schedule as he travels, teaches, and disciples in the next few weeks.

  • Pray that Pastor Brian would be able to prepare well for the seminary class he will teach in June.

  • Pray that Tony de la Cruz and Yosimar Moya would continue to grow in their ministry at IBR.
