Fiji Bible College
The College of Theology and Evanglism Fiji (CTEF, also commonly known as Fiji Bible College) began training students in 1974. Dr. Narayan Nair founded the school 50 years ago with the desire to train local pastors to handle the Word of God and shepherd their churches well, and the school has been doing so ever since.
While Hinduism and Islam are a growing presence, many people in Fiji would call themselves Christian. However, popular Christianity is often shallow, and feeds a syncretistic blend of Christian and pagan practices. Churches are often well-intentioned but under-equipped to understand and apply Scripture accurately.
Fiji Bible College is strategically located on the largest island of Fiji and serves as a base both for the numerous other islands of Fiji and also many other Pacific Island nations. As such, pastors come not only from the main island of Fiji but also from dozens of islands surrounding it. The school currently has 16 in-person students and around 100 virtual students from throughout the Pacific. All of these students have free tuition, enabled by the gracious ministry philosophy of the school.
Dr. Narayan Nair still teaches at the school, but he has passed on the role of president to Dr. Premend Choy, a graduate of the school. Premend pastors a church in Fiji as well as overseeing and teaching in the Bible College.
