Why do we have the story of the Good Samaritan? To initiate and answer questions about love and eternal life. How can we have life with God forever? Can we earn or inherit a right standing with God? And what does love have to do with it? Jesus shows us that only God’s love for us can draw us to faith and repentance that leads to salvation and overflows in a response of love for God and others.
