The Great Banquet and the Gospel Call

The gospel call goes out to all, inviting us to come to the great feast at God’s table. However, it is only those who respond to Christ’s message who will enter the kingdom, and enjoy the eternal blessing of this feast. In God’s grace, he seeks to fill his house not with the proud and self-righteous, but with the humble, needy, and most unlikely of guests. Those who know this generous Master are to rejoice in his benevolence, and invite all who will listen to come in.
