Last Sunday's message looked at the necessity of controlling the tongue in James 3:1-12. James informs of the power of the tongue, the destruction it can cause, and how it can reveal spiritual hypocrisy. The good news is that Christ atones for sins of the tongue and gives us the power to change. Let's seek to offer ourselves as instruments of righteousness to God this week.

Listen to "Controlling the Tongue"

Small groups - be sure to check the sermon post each week for discussion questions and points for prayer.

This week's sermon text will be James 3:13-18. Take some time to read and consider this week:

  • How does the theme of wisdom connect with the idea of faith, good words, and spiritual maturity?
  • How does James describe these two competing versions of wisdom?
  • What contrasting results do these two competing versions of wisdom produce?

Please pray that despite the challenges of livestreaming, God's word would be heard with clarity and without distraction. Pray that we all would have attentive and open hearts to receive God's truth and that good fruit would be produced in us.

Here are the songs we will be singing this week. If you are still unfamiliar with the new song we learned last week (Christ Our Hope in Life and Death) then be sure to listen a few times before Sunday.

We plan to have the lyrics on the screen, but they can also be found here
