On Sunday JD reminded us of our mission: We exist to glorify God by being and making disciples of Jesus. God's main purpose and goal is to bring himself glory, and believers must have the same mission. We do this by living as disciples of Christ, and by serving as ambassadors for Christ. We must follow Christ and help others follow Christ. Is this your mission? Are you living as a disciple of Jesus? Do you care about helping others live like Christ?

As we begin the new year, take some time to consider your mission.

Listen to Mission Refresh

This Sunday we will focus on the centrality of the gospel to our mission. We cannot glorify God by being and making disciples of Jesus if we do not have the gospel. While it may seem like the gospel is just the introduction to the Christian life, we must never move on from the gospel. To prepare for the message this Sunday, read 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 and think about the following:

  • How would you define Paul's mission from these verses?
  • What does the phrase "For the love of Christ controls us" (v. 14) mean?
  • What does it mean to "regard no one according to the flesh" (v. 16)?
  • How would you explain the gospel to someone else?

Let's pray that God's word is clearly proclaimed and received on Sunday. Pray for believers to be encouraged and strengthened, for unbelievers to be drawn to Christ, and for God to be glorified in all we do.
