On Sunday we looked into the throne room of God and saw him arrayed in majestic holiness. Our God is holy, separate from sin and distinct from all others. There is no one like our God! And yet God became like us. He brought his holiness to dwell among us and make an acceptable sacrifice to atone for our sins. Praise God for his holiness!

Spend some time this week meditating on God's holy character and what his holiness means for you.

Listen to Holiness Displayed in the Incarnation of Christ

This week we will reflect on how God pours out love in the incarnation. Love is one of the most common themes of Christmas in our secular world, and yet God's true love is often misrepresented. God reveals his love in the incarnation in specific ways. To prepare for our time in God's Word this week, read 1 John 4:7-12 and consider the following questions:

  • After reading these verses, how would you define love?
  • How does the world around us define love?
  • What does propitiation mean?
  • What are some specific ways that you can display the love of Christ to others this Christmas season?

Let's pray that God's word is clearly proclaimed and received on Sunday. Pray for believers to be encouraged and strengthened, for unbelievers to be drawn to Christ, and for God to be glorified in all we do.
