This past week pastor Otto Skoog spoke to us from Psalm 115 about the glory of God. God is incredibly glorious and therefore worthy of our trust and our praise. Our understanding of what God is like and what He has done in rescuing us should produce in our hearts this reponse of faith. Are you trusting Him this week? Is your heart quick to give praise to the One who has saved us? If you missed the sermon this week you can listen here.

This week we will be back in Mark, looking at 8:11-26. Please join me in reading through this text and praying that God will give us understanding and enable us to respond in faith and obedience to what we see.

We praise God for the arrival of little Ruby Parkin! Pray for Steven and Bradi as they adjust to the "new normal" and try to catch up on lost sleep, and for Bradi as she recovers.

There are two events we have been talking about recently: the first is the 9Marks workshop on "Strengthening Members, Cultivating Leaders" at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary this Tuesday from 7pm-9:30pm. Register for free here. I believe this workshop will be helpful for us as we seek to be faithful to our mission of glorifying God by being and making disciples of Jesus.

The second event is the annual Ironmen Summit at Flint Hills Christian Church in Emporia, KS on Saturday, January 23rd. I know that seems like a long way out but it fills up FAST! So we need to register soon. It costs $40 for this all-day event and includes two meals and several book giveaways. I have attended the last several years and always come away challenged and encouraged. This year's theme is "Soul Care," which is a responsibility we all have as men. You can learn more about the event and register here . If the cost is a problem let me know, we want all our men to come if they are available.
