It's easy to look at those around us in the church and see the differences between us. But while these differences exist, they pale in comparison to the unity that believers have in Jesus Christ. That means that married and unmarried people, though distinct in their marital status, have in common their identity in Christ. Because of this, they can love each other by speaking the truth, being hospitable, serving, and praying for each other.
Spend some time this week reflecting on the ways you can serve the fellow believers in our church body.
PREPARING TO HEAR
Our series takes us next to the distinct roles within a biblical marriage. This Sunday will focus on God's instructions to wives, and next week we will focus on God's instruction for husbands, following the pattern of Ephesians 5:22-33. Take some time this week to read these verses and think about the following questions:
- What is God's design for wives?
- What is biblical submission?
- Why are wives compared to the church in Ephesians 5:23-24?
- How does the world's perspective on wives differ from the Bible's perspective?
- What are some obstacles that get in the way of following God's design for wives?
Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.
